The Powered Parachute Industry

Wheeled Powered Parachute – Powered Parachute (Flying ATV)

PPC (Powered Parachute) – According to Israeli law, a "powered parachute" is a heavier-than-air aircraft.

Authorization to Fly a Powered Parachute - Powered parachute flight is available to any person over the age of 16 who has completed full training with an instructor certified by the CAAI (Civil Aviation Authority of Israel).

How does it fly Powered parachute flight is made possible by the lift generated by the parachute as it moves forward in the air, and the thrust generated by the engine. Using the engine's thrust, the aircraft can climb to altitude, and without engine power, the aircraft glides slowly downward. The controls operated by the pilot's feet change the shape of the wing (the parachute), thereby causing the aircraft to turn right and left.

The flight zones – The areas permitted for flying are called "bubbles," some of which are available for flight throughout the entire week and most only on weekends, all subject to the appropriate approvals and permitted altitudes.

Flight zones and restrictions appear on the CAAI website on maps and relevant applications.

Weather – Powered parachute flight is subject to weather conditions that permit safe flight. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to fly in strong winds, rain, or very hot weather. Powered parachute flight is permitted only in good visibility conditions and during the daytime.

Powered Parachute Structure

The aircraft – aviation - grade aluminum tubing structure designed to connect the engine, pilot and passenger seats, and auxiliary systems. The structure is configured in a way that will enable flight and ensure the safety of the occupants.

The parachute – When the parachute is fully deployed in the air, it acts as a wing. For this purpose, it is connected by lines to the vehicle. The parachute is steered using special cables connected to foot pedals operated by the pilot's feet.

Flight speed – The speed is constant and independent of the engine power. The vehicle will fly at a speed of about 50 km/h relative to the air around it. Wind speed and direction can cause the aircraft to fly faster or slower.

Passengers – The powered parachute allows for two-seat flight – a pilot in the front and a passenger in the back.

Flight altitude - The approved altitudes are usually between 500-1500 feet (approximately 150-500 meters), allowing for an enjoyable and safe flight, in accordance with the relevant flight maps and specific flight permits.

Flight duration and range - The powered parachute can fly continuously for about 4 hours, about 250 km, based on a fuel tank with a volume of about 50 liters.

Weight – The powered parachute can fly continuously for about 4 hours and cover about 250 km, based on a fuel tank with a capacity of about 50 liters.

Maintenance and Servicing – The vehicle's maintenance is performed solely according to the manufacturer's instructions, based on engine hours or scheduled maintenance intervals, whichever comes first and in accordance with the instructions of the engine and canopy manufacturers. in addition, before and after every flight, the pilot must verify that all components are in proper working order, that all bolts are properly tightened, and that all auxiliary systems are functioning properly. Do not fly with a malfunctioning vehicle!

Transportation The Powered Parachute (PPC) can be transported from place to place using a standard trailer towed by a vehicle as licensed in the vehicle registration

Powered Parachute Trailer - To reach the landing strips, the powered parachute must be transported using a dedicated trailer towed by a legally authorized vehicle. Dedicated trailers can be purchased from manufacturers recommended by us.

Pilot insurance - Do not fly without insurance. The insurance currently available in the country covers bodily injury to the pilot and passenger as well as third-party damage. Insurance can currently be obtained through Maroz.

Trailer insurance – Ensure that the trailer is insured as required by law.

Costs – The powered parachute is the least expensive aircraft to purchase, and its operating and annual maintenance costs are also extremely low.

The Israeli Powered Parachute Pilots Association  – Powered parachute (PPC) pilots are voluntarily organized in the Israeli Powered Parachute Pilots Association https://www.ppc.org.il
